For the majority right now, our regular work routine has been turned on its head. You might be working from home, not working at all, or working more than ever.

Whatever the case may be, now is an excellent time to evaluate your working conditions and try and see what could improve to help support performance and wellbeing.

Here are our tips.

First, establish your specific goals and needs.

To improve your physical wellbeing, you might need to change how you work - This could involve:

  • Swapping to more ergonomic furniture

  • Watching your posture,

  • Staying mindful of your tech usage

  • Taking breaks when necessary.

If you are looking to attend to your mental health, manage stress levels and achieving balance, you could begin incorporating self-care practices into your routine.

These could include:

  • Meditation

  • Expressing gratitude

  • Morning pages

  • Listening to music

  • Sleeping and eating well

  • Using exercise as a stress release

  • Getting involved in a hobby or interest

  • Setting boundaries

  • Saying no to things when you need to.

  • Remove toxic or harmful behaviours.

If you are currently not working, you could use this time to assess what you might want or need in your next job. Landing your ideal work situation begins with cultivating the right mindset.

Dream of what your perfect job would look like: industry, location, hours, job role/position. Prepare for ways to get you there:

  • Researching and developing the skills would you need to learn

  • Find inspiration from people who are already in the field you aspire

  • Start applying.

Remember having the right mindset has the power to change your reality and move you towards your goals.
