salt therapy

wellness+30.jpg

Salt therapy is a natural and non-invasive treatment that alleviates certain respiratory, skin and sinus conditions.

A halogenerator is used to aerosolise pharmaceutical grade salt, which is then dispersed into a warm and inviting room.

Breathing in the micro salt particles, opens up the airways,  increases oxygen intake and cleanses the respiratory system of smoke, dust, pollutants and other allergens.

Salt has natural anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antihistamine properties and is suitable for adults and children of all ages.

We recommend a number of sessions in succession for relieving temporary ailments, whereas chronic conditions will experience greater results with regular sessions.

What to expect.

A halogenerator is used to aerosolise and disperse pharmaceutical grade salt particles into a warm and inviting room during the session. The salt air will administer natural healing as it travels into the lungs to help relieve inflammation and loosen congestion.

Within the 45 minutes session breathing can improve and become easier, as well that symptoms of irritation, wheezing and coughing can alleviate.

You may use your phone or tablet throughout the session, read, listen to your own music, or even take a nap. For children’s entertainment, we recommend you bring toys for them to use.

Our salt room is a shared space, and we ask kindly that you follow the studio guidelines. If you would like to socialise with a friend or a group in the salt room, please contact us to book in a private session.

FAQ.

What clothing should be worn in the salt room?

Comfortable clothing is recommended. If there is an existing skin condition, it's best to expose skin areas you would like the salt to reach (shorts, sleeveless shirts, skirts, etc.).

Are there any side effects?

Salt Therapy is a 100% natural, drug-free and non-invasive treatment. After a session, you may experience a slight cough, minor tightness in the chest or a runny nose. This is due to the salt working to break down the mucus and remove toxins from the lungs and airways. In rare cases, people have experienced an adverse reaction to sodium chloride such as irritation to the eyes.

How often should you use salt therapy?

This will depend on the condition that you are trying to relieve with salt therapy. We recommend consistent sessions over a longer time for best results with long-term and chronic conditions such as asthma and COPD. For short term conditions such as allergies or a common cold, we recommend frequent visits over a short period or until the symptoms subside.  We can discuss your specific condition in further detail when you visit the studio for your session.

Do you need to be sick to benefit from salt therapy?

Salt therapy effectively maintains the lungs and skin so that their natural processes can be completed efficiently. By keeping the airways clear and strengthening your immune system, you can also prevent respiratory conditions. Many of our clients use Salt Therapy purely for the relaxation element and enjoy the time in the peaceful surroundings to de-stress.

Will there be anyone else in the room?

Our Salt Therapy room is a communal space at the studio that can hold a maximum of 4 people. We hold separate adult and children sessions which run throughout the day and into the evening. If you are interested in booking a private session, please contact us directly.

Is salt therapy safe for pregnant women?

Yes, Salt Therapy is completely safe for women that are pregnant. This therapy can be an effective, natural alternative to over the counter or prescribed medications for sinusitis, asthma, allergies, and other respiratory illnesses for your pregnancy duration.

Is salt therapy safe for children?

Salt Therapy is a completely drug-free and non-invasive treatment that is suitable for children of all ages. Children often respond quickly and effectively to Halotherapy and benefited greatly as a result. This can be a great solution to managing and preventing respiratory problems that children easily pick up. We recommend you bring toys or books for their entertainment. Throughout a session, your child can breathe and play while you can relax in one of our chairs… yes it’s that simple!

“Thank you to the Wellness Studio for giving me a quality of life. I suffer from COPD and always had chest infections. When I first walked in, I had extreme shortness of breath and could not stop coughing. After the first couple of sessions, my breathing improved so much that my husband and I were able to go out to dinner at the RSL, something I had avoided before because of my continual coughing. I have been attending salt sessions for 18 months now, at first three times a week and now only two times a week. My airways have opened right up, the shortness of breath has completely gone, and I hardly cough at all during a session. My husband comes with me now, and we simply love it! It is just so relaxing, and Rod and his staff are so caring and friendly..
