Floatation

website_images-37.jpg

Floatation is a widely recognised alternative therapy, beneficial for physical, mental and general wellbeing.

The unique experience takes place in a spacious tank filled with 360 kilograms of Epsom salt, dissolved in 30 centimetres of skin temperature water (34.5°C).

The float tank environment is designed to remove sources of discomfort and stress by depriving the senses of external stimulation, a process called ‘sensory deprivation.’

Studies have shown that to maximise floatation benefits, it must be experienced in isolation, so having the tank all to yourself is essential to let go and relax in peace.

At our studio, we offer individual floatation, but we have multiple tanks available so you can still share the experience with someone.

To experience the full potential that floatation offers, we recommend floating regularly, as the benefits will be cumulative.

Experience the benefits yourself!

People utilise floatation to optimise their performance and heal fatigued and wounded bodies. Others gain a heightened sense of peace, self-awareness or creativity from the experience. Floating offers balance in people’s lives and an opportunity to unplug, decreasing life stresses and increasing focus and sense of well-being.

Benefits

Physical

The magnesium-rich solution is the magic behind the weightlessness. Our body naturally responds to this environment by accelerating physical recovery and performance and alleviating the symptoms of both acute and chronic pain.

Mental

Floatation decreases stress hormones, replenishes neurotransmitters, and releases endorphins. The unique environment encourages deep relaxation and provides a zen-like afterglow that can last for days.

Magnesium

Magnesium is an essential mineral required for a range of biochemical activities in the human body. These include protein production, muscle and nerve function, blood glucose control and bone development.

During the floatation process the magnesium-rich solution, the mineral is absorbed through the skin, which can greatly improve the body's amount of available magnesium. As a result, this may improve symptoms of insomnia, headaches and fatigue.

Love the float tanks, such a great way to relax. I get such benefits, especially after training or a hard week at work.

Floating for Pregnancy

Using floatation therapy throughout pregnancy provides a safe and effective way for women to alleviate the physical demands on their body. The water is maintained at a constant skin temperature (34.5 degrees Celcius) and will not cause the body’s core temperature to rise over the course of a session. The magnesium-rich solution will assist in reducing inflammation, relax the muscles, and elicit a feeling of weightlessness that will relieve the spine and ease back pain. Floatation is also known to help other common conditions that women may experience in the later stages of pregnancy; including insomnia, depression and anxiety by decreasing cortisol levels and enhancing the production of endorphins. After a session, women often report feeling a stronger bond with their babies, evoked by the intimate environment and the quality time spent in solitude together. Women in all stages of pregnancy are welcome to float after seeking advice from their healthcare provider.

Float Hygiene

Although your appointment is only 60 minutes, we allow 30 minutes between each session to give us the chance to clean the rooms thoroughly and filter the tanks.

About our float tanks

Each tank contains a high concentration of Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate) approx 350Kg. It provides an adequate buoyant force for floating with the added benefit of creating a hostile environment for bacteria.

After each float and overnight, the solution passes through a filtration system that is cleaned with Bromine. The filter in each tank is capable of screening the water down to one micron. The combination of Epsom Salt and the Bromine in the filtration system, ensures the tanks are exceptionally clean and safe for floating.

In addition to this, we require everyone to shower before and after their session to aid in hygiene. We clean the rooms between each float with Australian industry-standard hospital-grade disinfectant, and after cleaning, we re-set the rooms with fresh towels.
